Abstract:Objective To design a noninvasive, convenient, objective and accurate measurement device for cervical dilation for
parturients and obstetricians. Methods The cervical dilation was measured by two flexible measuring rings and a measuring ruler
located between the two rings. The measurement method was consistent with the clinical practice and was not affected by the palm
deformation and vagina physiological bending angle, so the distance of cervical dilation could be accurately measured. Results The
measurement of cervical dilation was more objective and accurate than traditional vaginal examination without cervical dilation
measurement device in the prenatal cervical changes and birth canal model. Conclusion The distance of cervical dilation can be
relatively accurately measured by cervical dilation measurement device. It provides a simple, objective, noninvasive way for clinical
measurement of cervical dilation.
