Abstract:Objective A container for sterilizing and heating the chest of stethoscope was designed and its effect was evaluated.
Methods The vessel contained two parts: heating and disinfecting. The part of heating consisted of rechargeable batteries, heating
elements, temperature detect switches normally closed at 50℃, wires, pump action switches and charging plate with USB. Disinfection
of the chest piece was carried out by contact with sterile gauze soaked with a stable chlorine disinfectant. The disinfection
effect was evaluated by random sampling. Through clinical application and questionnaire design, the patients' comfort
and satisfaction were evaluated. At the same time, we observed whether it had the protective effect on the stethoscope chest.
Results We developed a new vessel to sterilize and heat the stethoscopes successfully. The use of containers could effectively reduce
the number of bacteria on the stethoscope (P<0.05). The satisfaction of patients in the container and box group was higher than
that in the conventional group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) The container box can protect the chest
parts. Conclusion The container box achieves the design ef fect and can be used clinically .
