Discussion on Accelerator Preventive Maintenance Strategy Based on Risk Assessment

Abstract:Objective The risk accessment technology was used to analyze the downtime data of the accelerator, and risk level of the
accelerator was adjusted accordingly, then proper policy of preventive maintenance was provided to ensure the safe, reliable and
economical operating of the accelerator. Methods Service data of 12 year had been collected, and then reliability analysis was applied
to get the proper parameters, and risk level value was assigned to the machine, suggestion was put forward to optimize the preventive
maintenance policy in combination with the relationship between downtime and month. Results There were 338 fault records during
12-year operation of the accelerator, and the downtime were 1108.5 hours all together. The average fault times, downtime, average
annual repair time and availability per year were 28.2, 92.4 hours, 3.3 hours and 0.97 respectively. It’s better to start maintenance in
the second month of the year with prerentive maintenance frequeny of 3 months in Guangzhou. It was suggested to buy a premium
service contract in the 5th year and to conduct a complete preventive maintenance every 5~6 years. Conclusion Maintenance data
can be used to optimize the preventive maintenance policy, thus measures can be taken in advance to reduce downtime and risk, save
maintenance cost and increase the accelerator’s availability.
