Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between left atrium parameters and CHA2DS2-VASC score of nonvalvular atrial
fibrillation (nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, NVAF) patients and to investigate the value of left atrium parameters in predicting the risk
of NVAF thromboembolism. Methods We selected 94 cases of NVAF patients from December 2015 to June 2017. Each patient was
selected according to the CHA2DS2-VASC scoring system and was analyzed by transthoracic echocardiography to measure and record
the left atrial dimension, left ventricular ejection fraction, left atrial ejection fraction and left atrial strain. Statistical methods, such as
Spearman rank correlation analysis, were used to analyze left atrium parameters and CHA2DS2-VASC score. Logistic regression were
used to analyze left atrium parameters and thromboembolic events. Results Left atrium parameters and CHA2DS2-VASC score were
related to the left atrial strain (r=-0.692, P<0.001) and left atrial ejection fraction (r=-0.241, P<0.05). Left atrium parameters and
thromboembolic events were related to left atrial strain (P<0.05) and left atrial ejection fraction (P<0.05). Conclusion CHA2DS2-
VASc scoring system is correlated with left atrium strain of NVAF and left atrial ejection fraction of NVAF. The decrease of left
atrium strain and left atrial ejection fraction are dangerous factors of NVAF stroke and therefore left atrium strain and left atrial
ejection fraction can be considered as ultrasonic index to assess the risk of NVAF stroke.
