Study on Digital Therapeutics Usability Assessment Scale

Abstract:Objective To analyze the usability assessment scale and evaluation dimensions used for digital therapeutics, so as to
better evaluate the usability of digital therapeutics. Methods Through literature research and scale screening and classification, 14
usability scales were selected for discussion, the key features and evaluation dimensions of each scale were discussed, respectively,
the evaluation focus of each scale was analyzed. The evaluation dimensions that should be paid attention to in the evaluation of
digital therapeutics usability were selected, the key features of each scale were scored, and the scale with the strongest pertinence
was selected for the evaluation of the usability of digital therapeutics. Results There were obvious differences in the number of
items, type, reliability and other key features of the scales, and the emphasis of the evaluation dimension was also different. The most
important evaluation indicators were “easy to learn” “satisfaction” “effectiveness” “efficiency” “easy to use” “system usefulness”
“information quality” “controllability”. The usability index system was built in this paper and was divided into two vertical (users,
products) and three horizontal (demands, operations, results), with a total of six parts (perception/cognition, function, behavior,
performance, attitude, evaluation), covering the evaluation of users and products in the whole cycle of human-computer interaction.
mHealth APP usability questionnaire (MAUQ), mobile APP rating scale (MARS), and user mobile APP rating scale (uMARS) were
selected as the most suitable usability assessment scales for digital therapeutics software among the 14 scales, and were distinguished.
Conclusion When evaluating the availability of digital therapeutics, the product availability can be comprehensively evaluated
according to the index system established in this paper. When selecting the usability evaluation scale, researchers can choose from
MAUQ, MARS and uMARS according to their research needs.
