Abstract:Objective To change the old mode “receive in lieu of use” of low-value consumables in the operating room, and adopt
the new mode of two-echelon inventory package for consumables preparation to realize innovation and improvement.
Methods In the form of unified and centralized consumables preparation on the 5th floor of the operating room, the consumables
were used first and then the invoices were issued. The supplier registered the invoice on the billing interface after the patient had
been settled and discharged from hospital. Results After the implementation of the new mode, the accuracy rate of charging for lowvalue
consumables in the operating room increased from 73.97% to 100%, the traceability rate of consumables increased from 0
to 100%, the expiration rate of consumables decreased from 3.65% to 0, and the stock-sales ratio decreased from 78.77% to 0. The
manpower allocation was reduced, the satisfaction was increased by 10.21%, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).
Conclusion The use of new mode can improve the charging accuracy, traceability rate of low-value consumables in the operating
room and clinical satisfaction, reduce the expiration rate of consumables, inventory occupancy and manpower.
