Abstract:Lung recruitment is widely used in the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).The application of positive
end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is the key factor to ensure the effect of lung reexpansion. Patients’ selection of appropriate PEEP
can improve the effect of lung reexpansion and protect alveoli during ventilation. Traditional methods to evaluate the effect of lung
reexpansion lack objectivity and accuracy, while imaging can quantitatively evaluate lung reexpansion effect while observing the
underlying diseases, which is the most intuitive evaluation of lung reexpansion effect. The increasing demand for precision medicine
has made how to use imaging to evaluate the lung reexpansion effect and help clinical select optimal PEEP become the current
research direction. In this review, we summarized the research progress referring to the evaluation of PEEP selection in ARDS by CT,
ultrasound and electrical impedance tomography (EIT).
