Abstract:Objective To assess the clinical value of PlanIQ software in the quality evaluation of automatic planning for lung cancer.
Methods A total of 20 patients with lung cancer who had completed radiotherapy were randomly selected and the clinical plans (CP)
were completed by auto planning module on the Pinnacle3 9.10 system. The CT and RT structures of 20 patients were transmitted to
PlanIQ through the DICOM network. The feasibility dose volume histogram (FDVH) in PlanIQ software was used to calculate the
dose distribution under the same clinical prescription with CP group. The dosimetric parameters of the organs at risk under difficult
state, and re-optimised the 20 treatments plans which were new plans (NP). The dosimetric parameters of the targets and organs at
risk in the CP and NP groups were compared and analyzed by the parallel paired t-test. Results The results showed that automatic
planning for lung cancer in CP and NP groups could meet the clinical prescription requirements, and there were no statistical
differences in the dosimetric parameters of target area D98, D2, CI and HI between the two groups (P>0.05). Compared with CP
group, there were statistically significant differences in NP group in lung V10~30 and Dmean, heart V30 and Dmean, spinal cord D1cc and
esophageal Dmean (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of PlanIQ software to evaluate the quality of lung cancer automatic planning
has positive clinical significance. The dosimetric parameters provided by the PlanIQ prediction model can guide the dosimeter in the
process of treatment planning design.
