Abstract：Objective To provide reasonable and effective basis for equipment management and purchase decision-making by
evaluating the comprehensive performance of large medical equipment scientifically and comprehensively. Methods Drawing
lessons from the idea of balanced scorecard, the evaluation model was built with indexes and weights determined from five aspects of
social benefit, scientific research benefits, technical benefit, allocation benefit and economic benefits, by selecting some representative
equipment of a certain hospital as samples, using this system to evaluate, the evaluation results were back to the relevant functional
departments. Results The results showed that the economic benefits of DSA reduces the comprehensive performance score, though
with high social benefit and scientific research demand. According to the feedback from management section, the economic benefit
index score of DSA increases by 31.9% in 2018, the scientific benefit index score of MRI increases by 24.3%, and the economic
benefit index score of PET-CT increased by 15.2%. Conclusion The performance evaluation system based on balanced scorecard can
comprehensively evaluate medical equipment, improve equipment management and optimize procurement decisions.
