Abstract:Objective To establish the comprehensive evaluation index system for the utilization efficiency of large medical
equipment, and quantitatively evaluate the comprehensive utilization of large medical equipment. Methods Using data envelopment
analysis (DEA), the utilization efficiency of large medical equipment (including CT, MRI, PET-CT, SPECT, LA, DSA, B-ultrasound)
in a hospital was analyzed, and the utilization efficiency of the above equipment was comprehensively evaluated and ranked by
technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). Results DEA analysis showed that the comprehensive
efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of CT and B-ultrasound were all 1, which was relatively effective. The
remaining devices were relatively DEA ineffective, and SPECT had the lowest relative efficiency. Through DEA, the ideal values
of various indicators of invalid large medical equipment were analyzed and revised to achieve effectiveness and improve utilization
rate. TOPSIS analysis showed that CT and B-ultrasound had the highest overall utilization efficiency, while SPECT, PET-CT and LA
had lower utilization efficiency. Comprehensive analysis showed that the main factors leading to invalid DEA and low ranking of
TOPSIS utilization efficiency were scientific research projects and published articles. Medically well used devices might be not well
used in terms of social benefits. Conclusion Quantitative evaluation of the comprehensive utilization of medical equipment using
DEA-TOPSIS combined model provides scientific reference data for the purchase and rational utilization of medical equipment. As a
class A hospital, it is positioned as a research hospital, and managers should pay more attention to the social benefits of large medical
equipment and improve its comprehensive utilization rate.
