Abstract:Objective To study the effects of 3D printing technology in orthopedic surgery. Methods The key words “3D
printing” and “bone” were used to search the databases, and the literature was obtained according to the preset inclusion
and exclusion criteria, and the data of surgical indicators, safety indicators and efficacy indicators were extracted for metaanalysis. Results A total of 78 literatures (84 studies) were included in the analysis, with 4290 study subjects. The sample size
of the knee, hip and others in the 3D printed group was lower than that in the control group. In the 5 subgroups, the operation time,
intraoperative blood loss, and intraoperative radiation exposure (in the 4 subgroups except the knee joint) of the 3D printing group
were less than those of the control group. Moreover, the incidence of postoperative complications in the 3D printing group was lower
than that in the control group, and the excellent ratio of surgical results while postoperative functional scores were higher than those
in the control group. Conclusion The application of 3D printing technology in orthopedic surgery shows advantages in surgical
indicators, safety indicators and effectiveness indicators, especially in reducing the number of intraoperative radiation exposure and
postoperative complications, which has important clinical significance.
