Design and Development of Capillary Refilling Time Measuring Instrument Based
on Near-Infrared Spectrum and Photoelectric Plethysmography

Abstract:The peripheral circulation monitoring indexes, represented by capillary refilling time, can sensitively and accurately reflect the worst microcirculatory state of the body. However, its clinical application in recent years is limited by problems, such as human measurement bias. In this paper, a new mechanical measurement method was proposed for the measurement of peripheral circulation monitoring indexes such as capillary refilling time. Based on the Lambert-Beer law of photon absorption and the photoelectric plethysmography, the hemoglobin content in the arterial blood flow of the distal capillary bed was monitored continuously. Moreover, the electromagnetic pressure device was used to pressurize the distal capillary bed. Finally, the software system was used for signal processing and conversion, data storage and analysis, to obtain a series of peripheral circulation parameters , including capillary refilling time, to guide clinical diagnosis and treatment. The device makes the peripheral circulation monitoring more mechanized and standardized, and has the advantages of simple measurement and high accuracy.
