Abstract:Based on the calculation theory of absorbed dose to water in IAEA TRS 398 report, a Primus medical linear accelerator
was seclected to perform experiment. Measurement under the condition of 6 MV high-energy photons of the accelerator was
conducted, and the absorbed dose to water on the basis of the observed value was calculated by using the PTW dosimeter and the
three-dimensional water tank. Several key correct factors (recombination loss, polarization effect, etc.) involved in the calculation
formula were analyzed and calculated. Then the absorbed dose to water of 6 MV high-energy photons was calculated, which
was 100.34 cGy. Taking the influence of the measurement process and its correction into account, the mathematical model was
established, the uncertainty component analysis was carried out, and the final expansion uncertainty was 2.7%. The error of the
calculation results of absorbed dose to water and uncertainty were both in reasonable range, which verified the reliability of the
measurement and calculation process.
