Abstract:Objective To evaluate image quality and radiation dose of high, medium and low pitch acquisition program of dual-source
CT aortic angiography. Methods This study was a prospective study, all 90 patients underwent aortic angiography with dual-source
CT. Each group included 30 consecutive patients, dual energy acquisition technique with pitch 1.0, pitch 2.0 and pitch 3.0 were applied
in group A, B and C, respectively. Radiation dose and image quality of the three groups were compared. Results Among A, B and C
groups, scan length differences were not statistically significant, acquisition time gradually decreased and the differences were statistically
significant. Effective radiation dose was gradually reduced in these three groups, the differences between A and B groups, A and C groups
were both statistically significant, while the differences between B and C groups were not statistically significant. All aortic images of
the three methods reached the eligibility criteria, image noise of high pitch was higher. Subjective image quality score differences among
three groups were all statistically significant. Conclusion The pitch 2.0 is recommended for aortic angiography with dual-source CT.
