Objective To optimize the procedures of day surgery patients from outpatient clinic to the inpatient hospital through the
construction of day surgery information system. Methods The prepaid management mode of day operation in accordance with the
actual situation and needs of the hospital was firstly set up. Then, a prepayment management system was designed for day surgery.
Finally, the hospital inpatient management system was improved to realize the conversion of outpatient deposit and inpatient deposit
and the connection between outpatient doctor’s orders and inpatient doctor’s orders. Results By using this system, the informationbased
management mode of the whole process of day operation was realized, the process of medical treatment was optimized, and
the patient staying time in the hospital was reduced. The average length of stay was shortened by 2.44 days, and the difference
was significant (P<0.05). The average hospitalization expenses decreased by 1236.88 yuan, with significant difference (P<0.05).
Conclusion As an important part of hospital informationization construction, the prepayment management system for day operation
provides a strong guarantee for the operation of the hospital.
