Abstract:Jugular vein puncture is a common practice in clinic. Considering the shortage of traditional training methods and the lack
of repetition, this paper constructed a preliminary system of the jugular vein puncture using the virtual reality platform. We surveyed
the potential virtual reality platform and chose SOFA (simulation open framework architecture) as our base platform. We conducted
a survey of possible virtual reality platforms, consequently chosed SOFA as our basic platform. The visualization model, behavior
model and collision model of virtual surgery scene were realized by using the simulation framework SOFA. In addition, the surface
model and body model of human head and surgical instruments were imported into the virtual operation scene, the virtual operation
scene was created, and the deformation solution was realized by SOFA. The feasibility of using the SOFA to construct the virtual
surgery system of jugular vein puncture was proved by this preliminary system.
