Abstract:Objective To meet the basic needs of treatment plan design of three-dimensional brachytherapy, to independently design a
three-dimensional brachytherapy treatment planning system. Methods The Visual C++ was used as the system development platform
and the DICOM standard files was supported. The system used a window interactive interface, which the operation functions
were realized through the menu or key. Results The system’s modules included patient information, delineation, brachytherapy
planning and system configuration. The functions of patient data administration, delineation of target and organ at risk, applicator
reconstruction, dose calculation, inverse optimization and treatment planning evaluation could be achieved by the system. This system
and commercial planning system were used for brachytherapy planning design, and the accuracy of the optimization algorithm and
dose calculation algorithm of this system was verified. The results showed that the deviation of the two planning systems in the dose
volume histogram parameters was less than 0.53%, and the passing rate of γ was more than 98.24%. Conclusion The developed 3D
brachytherapy planning system is simple and stable, which can realize the planning and design of clinical 3D brachytherapy and can
be used in clinic.
