Abstract:Objective To explore the application of CT simulator in the position verification of intensity modulated radiotherapy.
Methods Sixty patients with volumetric modulated arc therapy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were
selected. The radiotherapy position was verified by CT simulator, and the patients were randomly assigned to Varian and Elekta
accelerators. The position was retested by electronic portal imaging device (EPID) and cone beam CT (CBCT) respectively, and
the position verification results were analyzed. Results The position deviation of CT simulator in lateral (Lat), vertical (Vrt) and
longitudinal (Lng) directions were (1.5333±0.6456), (1.2600±0.5063), (1.0333±0.3676) mm respectively. In Lat direction and
Vrt direction, there was no significant difference between EPID and CBCT position verification results and CT simulator position
verification results (P>0.05). In the Lng direction, the average displacement of CT simulator was significantly lower than EPID
and CBCT (P<0.05). Conclusion Using CT simulator can obtain position verification images with better soft tissue resolution,
which is convenient for doctors to observe the relative relationship between target and organs at risk, the position verification before
radiotherapy can be well completed.
