Abstract:Objective To evaluate the usability of three different models of Mindray ventilator [SynoVent E5 (E5), SV300 and
SV800], and to explore the usability development of domestic Mindray ventilator. Methods By constructing a multidimensional
evaluation index model, the ventilator usability evaluation study was carried out for clinical medical personnel and clinical medical
engineers. The clinical tasks and maintenance tasks of the commonly used operations of the evaluation subjects were used as test
tasks, and the performance of the test tasks was evaluated subjectively and objectively. The objective evaluation included the time
used by the experimental personnel to complete different tasks and the number of operation steps. The subjective evaluation was
performed using the Likert scale and the NASA task load index scale. Results There were statistically significant differences in
startup self-test, ventilation mode and parameter settings, and leak alarm response among the three models (P<0.05). The time
required for startup self-test of SV300 was significantly longer than that of SV800 and E5, and the time required for ventilation mode
and parameter settings of E5 was significantly shorter than that of SV300 and SV800. SV800 leak alarm response was significantly
longer than SV300, E5. There were statistically significant differences in ventilation mode and parameter settings, leakage alarm
response, minute ventilation alarm response, and the number of steps completed in cleaning and disinfection tasks among the three
models of ventilators (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the completion time and number of steps of the three
tasks of cleaning and replacing the air filter, flow sensor calibration, and viewing advanced alarm information (P<0.05). The SV800
was easier to operate than the SV300 and E5 for the three test tasks of oxygen battery and battery replacement, cleaning and replacing
the air filter, and cleaning the suction and exhalation valves. The tester had the greatest workload when operating E5.
Conclusion Comprehensive evaluation shows that the new model of domestic Mindray SV800 ventilator has been iterated and
upgraded, and the product usability has been continuously improved, and the comprehensive score of usability evaluation has the best
performance.
