Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical value of real-time three-dimensional biplane echocardiography in the diagnosis of fetal cardiac malformation. Methods 420 pregnant women examined in our hospital from December 2008 to May 2013 were chosen. Conventional two-dimensional ultrasound and real-time biplanar ultrasound were used to screen fetal cardiac malformation. Then the sensitivities and specificities of the two methods were compared. Results The sensitivity and specificity of real-time biplanar ultrasound were 89.02% and 95.94%, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of conventional two-dimensional ultrasound were 71.74% and 91.67%, respectively. There were significant differences on sensitivities between the two methods in diagnosing fetal cardiac malformation (P<0.05). However, the specificities were not significant different between the two methods (P>0.05). Conclusion Compared with conventional two-dimensional ultrasound, real-time biplane echocardiography could provide more diagnostic information and had important clinical value in the diagnosis of fetal cardiac malformation.
