Application Value of High Resolution MRI Intracranial Large Artery Diseases

Abstract:There are significant differences in treatment strategy and prognosis between intracranial atherosclerosis (ICAS) and nonatherosclerotic
lesions. However, there are limitations to evaluate lumen information in the differential diagnosis of intracranial large
artery diseases only relying on traditional imaging method. High resolution magnetic resonance imaging (HR-MRI) is an imaging
technology that can directly evaluate the characteristics of lumen and tube wall. It is noninvasive and highly reproducible. Recently,
HR-MRI has been developed as a reliable method to evaluate intracranial vascular diseases. Meanwhile HR-MRI plays an important
role in evaluating ICAS vulnerable plaques, guiding treatment and evaluating curative effect. This paper reviewed the overview of
HR-MRI technology and its application value in ICAS and non-atherosclerotic lesions.
