Research on Influence Factors of Flow Rate and Quantity for the Microdosage Syringe Pump

Abstract:Objective To explore the influence of the syringe pump and syringe brands and models on flow rate and quantity for the microdosage syringe pump. Methods The Fluke IDA-4 PLUS infusion equipment test system was utilized to test the flow rate and quantity, instantaneous velocity and occlusion pressure of the microdosage syringe pump. The test results were analyzed and discussed. Results The B. Braun Melsungen AG microdosage syringe pump was used together with the same brand 50 and 20 mL syringe as well as 60 mL disposal sypringe so as to test its flow rate. According to the test results, the average error of the flow rate was within the allowable range; the accuracy of the flow rate proved its compliance with relevant standards. Use of the B. Braun Melsungen AG microdosage syringe pump together with its dedicated syringe had demonstrated better stability in the flow rate and volume. For the sake of patients’ safety during infusion, it is recommended not to set the alarming sensitivity of occlusion pressure to P2 or P3 when the maximum dosage at a time was less than 5 mL. And it is also recommended not to set the alarming sensitivity to P3 when the maximum dosage at a time was less than 8.17 mL. Conclusion Through research on the influence of the syringe pump and syringe brands and models on flow rate and quantity for the microdosage syringe pump, relevant solutions to reduce these factors in its clinical application were presented, which ensured the security of its application in clinical treatment.
