Abstract：Objective To design and develop a prescription management system so as to solve the problem of diversified prescriptions as well as complicated drug and material management for patients having medical care assurance inside the military sanatorium. Methods On the basis of intra-hospital LAN (Local Area Network) as well as various tables in the database of the No.1 Military Medical Project information system, a B/S (Browser/Server)-infrastructure-based prescription management system was programmed with ASP (Active Server Page), VBScript and JavaScript languages, and developed through application of the database technology of Oracle 10 G. Results Endowed with multiple functions like information maintenance, prescription management and statistics search, the system offered a real-time, convenient, fast and reliable alternative for drug management in the outpatient and clinical departments. Conclusion Stable and safe operation of the system allowed for application and management of multiple prescriptions through a database.
