Abstract:Objective To investigate the effectiveness of combination of MSCTE (Multi-Slice Spiral Computerized Tomography Enterography) and BCE (Bowel Capsule Endoscopy) as well as separate application of BCE and MSCTE in pre-operative assessment of SITs (Tumors of Small Intestine). Methods MSCTE and BCE imaging data of sixty-six SIT patients were analyzed retrospectively so as to compare the consistency in detection rates and lesion sizes between MSCTE, BCE and the combination of MSCTE and BCE. Results Combination of MSCTE and BCE demonstrated its overwhelming advantages in the detection rate of SITs over separate application of MSCTE and BCE (P<0.05). The consistency in lesion sizes and pathological measurements obtained by MSCTE, BCE and combination of both technologies was analyzed (r=0.98, 0.966, 0.995). Conclusion Combination of MSCTE and BCE could improve the detection rate of SITs and the accuracy of pre-operative assessment.
