Abstract:Objective To explore the differences in the management and utilization of respiratory therapy equipment in designated
hospitals with different grades of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Henan Province. Methods Taking the COVID-19
designated hospital rescue respiratory management equipment announced by Health Commission of Henan Province as the research
object, the information investigator designed a respiratory therapy equipment management questionnaire, which was released to
147 designated hospitals in the province through the Questionnaire Star platform. Filled by the respiratory therapy equipment
management staff, analyzed the management mode of the respiratory therapy equipment in different levels of designated hospitals
and highlight the problems in the use process. Results 30.9% and 38.1% of the designated hospitals respectively implemented
unified or partial unified management of respiratory therapy equipment, and only 15.1% of the designated treatment hospitals were
equipped with invasive, ICU non-invasive ventilator and high-flow humidification therapy instrument. Provincial, municipal, and
county-level designated hospitals for respiratory therapy operators performed lung expansion and respiratory mechanics monitoring
and evaluation at the same time were 100%, 52.15% and 36.15%, respectively. And the need for the improvement of respiratory
therapy operation technology were 40%, 66.7%, 65.3%. In addition, the correct use of filters in COVID-19 non-invasive ventilation
was significantly higher than invasive mechanical ventilation. Conclusion There are great differences in the management and use of
respiratory therapy equipment in provincial, municipal and county-level designated hospitals. Therefore, medical institutions should
pay attention to and reform the management of current respiratory therapy equipment, introduce and train professional respiratory
therapy personnel, and improve hospital respiratory therapy equipment management and use.
