Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of the SmartPhase function on automatically select optimal cardiac phase and
reconstruct images in the coronary artery computerized tomography angiography (CCTA) with high heart rate (beats per minute>80)
patients. Methods Forty-eight patients who had undergone CCTA in our hospital were retrospectively collected. Scanning phase was
40%-55% based on the recommendation from AutoGating. Images of the entire phase were reconstructed at a 1% interval and the
phase with the best image quality was selected as the control group. The phase chosen by Smartphase was the experimental group.
The coronary artery image quality scores from the two groups were analyzed using the rank sum test. Results The phase difference
between the two groups were within 2% in 70% of the total cases. Image quality score in the control group and in the experimental
group were 3.83±0.43 and 3.80±0.43, respectively. There was no significant statistic difference between the two groups
(P=0.680>0.05). When the phase difference was more than 2%, image quality score in the control and experimental group were
3.83±0.54 and 3.72±0.58, P=0.102>0.05. There was no significant statistic difference between two groups. Conclusion Image
quality of the optimal cardiac phase selected by the SmartPhase function is statistically equivalent to that selected by blind readers.
Smartphase provides the potential of higher work efficiency.
