Abstract:Objective Permutation entropy and R-wave detection are combined to detect the time when ventricular arrhythmias occurs. Methods At first, R-wave is detected and used as assistant to carve every cardiac rhythm up approximately. Then, a moving-window is used to calculate permutation entropy. The change of permutation entropy can accurately respond the change of the regulation of cardiac rhythm. At last, a decision is made using the change of RR inter phase and permutation entropy to detect ventricular arrhythmias. Results The performance of the algorithm is tested using the record of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database and malignant ventricular arrhythmia database and detection rate achieve 97%. Conclusion The result indicates that this algorithm can detect ventricular arrhythmias rapidly and accurately.
