VirtualDose: A New Software Used for Reporting Patient Organ Dose from CT Scan

Abstract:With the increasing popularity of multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT), concerns have been expressed regarding the increasing radiation risk from CT scan. Accurate assessment of radiation dose from CT scans is very important to make the CT radiation risks as low as possible and achieve radiation protection optimism. VirtualDose is the application software for reporting organ doses and effective doses for a patient undergoing a CT scan fast and precisely. Based on a large library of organ doses calculated with 25 realistic anatomical models, VirtualDose is expected to report CT doses with better accuracy when compared with existing CT dose software tools.
