Comparative Study on the Status of Medical Artificial Intelligence Clinical Trial Registration
in China and the United States Based on ClinicalTrials.gov

Abstract：This research collected clinical trial data of medical artificial intelligence in China and the United States from
ClinicalTrials.gov, and used bibliometric methods to compare the status of clinical trial registration in the two countries from the
perspectives of quantity, sponsor, disease classification and study type and stage. The research results showed that there were 68
medical artificial intelligence clinical trials in China and 271 in the United States. Although the number of clinical trials in two
countries has increased year by year, there was still a certain gap between China and the United States. The sponsors in two countries
were mainly universities, research institutes and medical institutions, but companies in the United States were also active. The scope
of diseases covered by clinical trials in China was slightly smaller than that in the United States, and there were some differences
in the application of artificial intelligence in the medical field between the two countries. There were more observational studies
in China, and more experimental studies in the United States. By analyzing the differences in clinical trials of medical artificial
intelligence between China and the United States, it was expected to provide some references and basis for accelerating the clinical
transformation of medical artificial intelligence in China.
