Abstract:Objective The factors affecting the quality of low-dose CT imaging in the abdomen were studied experimentally.
Methods Phantoms of different diameter were scanned using CT of diverse manufactures and models with distinct scanning
parameters such as mA value, kV value, thickness and pitch. Data was acquired and statistically analyzed. Results When mAs was
less than 50 mAs, the low contrast resolution could not meet the standard. When mAs was greater than 75 mAs, the fluctuation of
noise tended to be flat. Therefore, to ensure image quality, the threshold value of low-dose abdominal CT scanning was 75 mAs.
Conclusion There are many factors affecting the quality of low-dose abdominal CT images. A correct and comprehensive
understanding of these factors is very important to the quality control and assurance of CT scanning.
