Quality Control of Siemens Symbia T16 SPECT/CT Detectors

Abstract:Objective To analyze the measure of daily quality control (QC) of the Siemens Symbia T16 SPECT/CT detectors.
Methods Based on part data of daily QC for the Siemens Symbia T16 SPECT/CT, the nuclear detector’s PPM count rate, intrinsic
uniformity and center of rotation during working time were analyzed. Results The PPM counts rate distributed mainly in 0.3-1.1
Kcount/s within a day shift, which showed an up-trend from 8:00 to 17:00. Within a week shift, it showed an up-trend first and
down-trend late, the maximum counts occurred at the most examinations. The intrinsic uniformity (%) values of the detector 1 and
detector 2 were CFOV: 2.49±0.66, UFOV: 3.77±0.99; CFOV: 1.77±0.10, UFOV: 2.18±0.17; respectively. The performance of
detector 2 was better than the detector 1, and the intrinsic uniformity property of the detectors was improved after calibration. Center
of rotation values (mm) of the detector 1 and detector 2 (180o, 90o, 76o) were 0.116, -1.030; 5.059, -5.417; 4.430, 5.000; respectively.
Conclusion The results displayed that the nuclear detectors of the SPECT/CT were stable and effective, all the test data were in
accordance with the manufacturer standard. Regular equipment quality control, especially PPM counts rate observation and intrinsic
uniformity calibration, could found and solve the problems of radioactivity pollutant and some equipment faults in time, and maintain
the nuclear detectors in the best state.
