Abstract:Objective To evaluate the CT number linearity for a SIEMENS Sensation Open CT-Simulator, by retrospective analysis of
CT number data of four materials from monthly test. Methods The monthly quality control test was performed by using the Headseq
scan protocol and the CTP404 module of a Catphan504 phantom. The CT number data of four materials, including Air, LDPE,
Acrylic and Teflon, in CTP404 module were acquired by using the DoseLab software for the 24 CT images from Jan. 2014 to Dec.
2015. Then stability of CT number linearity was analyzed, by using data of CT number in combination with data of linear attenuation
coefficient and standard CT number. Results The mean, maximum and minimum values of contrast scale were 1.913×10-4,
1.917×10-4 and 1.909×10-4 cm-1?HU-1, respectively. For the linear fit data of the measured and standard CT number, the mean,
maximum and minimum values of slope were 0.9830, 0.9852 and 0.9812, respectively, and all the correlation values were above
0.999. Conclusion The CT number linearity of the SIEMENS Sensation Open CT-Simulator is stable in two years and can satisfy the
clinical requirements.
