Abstract:Objective To improve the manual cleaning quality of digestive endoscope by using DMAIC
model. Methods According to the 2004 edition of Endoscopic operation technique of the cleaning and
Disinfection Norms issued by the Ministry of Public Health, with the DMAIC model as a guide, the quality
improvement measures was conducted, including investigating the status of manual cleaning endoscope,
analyzing and verifying the fundamental reason, formulating and implementing the improvement plan
and applying effective quality control. The biological test qualified rate, the cleaning operation standard
rate, the implementation rate of the protective measures, and the integrity rate of the cleaning and
disinfection were recorded. Results After improvement, the biological test qualified ratepassing percent
of the endoscopic biology test was increased by 25%, the cleaning operation standard rate the standard
rate of cleaning was increased by 13.87%, and the implementation rate of protection was increased
by 20.61%, which were significant in statistics (P<0.05). Conclusion Aiming at the problems of the
digestive endoscope manual cleaning, the timely adoption of DMAIC model for quality improvement can
significantly improve the cleaning quality and reduce the nosocomial infection incidence.
