Abstract:Objective To explore the image features, T2 value ranges and application value of magnetic
resonance (MR) T2 mapping, which combined with routine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in
the diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis. Methods From 20 cases of spinal tuberculosis in our hospital, 50
abnormal vertebras, 20 abscesses in and by vertebra side were collected as the case group, 50 vertebras
with adjacent lesions as the selfcontrol
group and 50 normal vertebras as the normal control group. T2
values were measured for each vertebral body in the three groups, along with generating pcolor
automatically. Results The T2 values of normal vertebras, abnormal vertebras, vertebras with
adjacent lesions as well as abscesses in and by vertebra side were (77.09±4.45), (110.80±14.84),
(69.84±9.69) and (380.33±31.47) ms respectively. The abnormal vertebras of the case group had
statistical difference with vertebras of the self-control group and the control group separately (P<0.01).
Conclusion The T2 value measurement and T2 mapping pcolor imaging could provide valuable
information for early diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis, and also lay a foundation for differential diagnosis
of vertebral lesions.
