Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical value of 64-slice spiral CT in diagnosing retroaortic left renal vein entrapment syndrome (RLRVES). Methods The maximum anteroposterior dimension (d1) of cross-sectional left renal vein (LRV) expansion segment and the minimum anteroposterior dimension (d2) of cross-sectional LRV narrow segment as well as the ratio between d1 and d2 and CT value (D) of late renal parenchyma of 9 patients with RLRVES who were selected as experimental group were measured. The maximum anteroposterior dimension (d1) of proximal segment of LRV and the anteroposterior dimension (d2) of angle segment of LRV of 60 normal subjects who were selected as control group were measured. The value of d1 and d2 as well as d1/d2 and D of control group were compared with those of experimental group. Results The anatomical relationship of abdominal aorta(AO), superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and left renal vein were clearly displayed with 64-slice spiral CT. The values of d1, d2 and D of experimental group were (14.5±2.3) mm, (3.6±0.7) mm, (154.3±18.7) Hu, respectively. The values of d1, d2 and D of control group were (10.5±2.1) mm, (9.0±1.9) mm, (178.5±21.0) Hu, respectively. The values of d1, d2, d1/d2 and D between the two groups were statistically different (P<0.05). Conclusion 64–slice Spiral CT has an important clinical significance in diagnosing RLRVES.
