Abstract:Objective To explore the influence of early supportive psychological intervention on preoperative stress state of patients who would undergo thoracic surgeries. Methods 62 patients were divided into intervention group (31 cases) and control group (31 cases) with sequential method. The patients in control group were nursed with general preoperative nursing method while the patients in intervention group were nursed with early supportive psychological intervention method based on general preoperative nursing method. The psychological indicators of all the patients during the process of surgery appointment and 1 d before operation were evaluated with state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) while the changes of systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse of all the patients during the period from surgery appointment to 15 min after entering into the operating room were monitored. Results The average STAI scores of psychological indicators of all the patients during the process of surgery appointment were significantly higher than that of national norm (P<0.05), which indicated that patients who would undergo thoracic surgeries had obvious preoperative psychological stress reactions. The average STAI scores of psychological indicators of patients at 1d before operation in intervention group were significantly lower than that of patients in control group (P<0.05) and the changes of systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse of patients during the period from surgery appointment to 15 min after entering into the operating room in intervention group were significantly better than that of patients in control group. Conclusion Early supportive psychological intervention plays an important role in reducing the psychological stress levels and stabilizing the vital signs of patients who would undergo thoracic surgeries.
