Abstract:Objective To verify the performance and safety of intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) imaging system in animal
experiments. Methods The imaging depth and resolution of ICE system were tested by standard ultrasonic phantom, then Bama
pig was imaged by ICE, and the imaging field and resolution were evaluated. At the same time, the catheter passability, bending
maneuverability and safety were evaluated, and compared with the commercial ICE system. Results The self-developed ICE
imaging system had a maximum detection depth of ≥60 mm and axial and lateral resolution of ≤1.0 mm. In vivo ICE imaging, two
kinds of catheters successfully entered the right atrium through femoral vein under the guidance of digital subtraction angiography,
and the target section could be displayed by adjusting the angle of the catheter tip with the handle. The structure of the cardiac
chamber was clear and recognizable, with less noise, and the imaging quality of the self-developed ICE system was close to that of
the commercial ICE system. After the operation, all the experimental pigs survived healthily and no intervention-related injuries were
found. Conclusion The self-developed 7.5F ICE catheter system is stable, safe and easy to operate.
