Abstract:Intracranial infection is an infection of the central nervous system caused by invading pathogens, including viruses,
bacteria, and parasites. Symptoms of intracranial infection are nonspecific, disease development is rapidly and differential diagnosis
is difficult. Characterized by rapid disease progression, diagnostic tools for the early diagnosis of intracranial infection are needed to
improve poor prognosis and achieve precision medicine. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of intracranial infection can guide
early prediction and clinical management by assessing the neurotransmitter concentrations and metabolism in the brain. This paper
reviewed recent advances in the application of MRS in intracranial infection (cranial viral infection, bacterial or fungal brain abscess,
brain mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, brain parasite infection).
