Abstract:Due to the good dose deposition properties, proton therapy has become an advanced, precise and suitable treatment
method for various tumors recognized by the international community today. On the basis of outlining the characteristics of proton
radiotherapy, this paper summarized the development status of medical proton accelerators at home and abroad, introduced the
physical and biological characteristics of proton therapy, and the research progress and challenges of proton therapy related to clinical
technologies, including treatment planning system, beam and stretching techniques, image-guided techniques, motion management
techniques, and proton FLASH therapy. This paper aimed to help readers understand the current situation of proton therapy and grasp
the development direction of proton radiotherapy in the future.
