Abstract:Objective To explore dynamic feature and concordance changes of brain spontaneous activity in patients with primary
dysmenorrhea (PDM). Methods Resting state fMRI data were collected from thirty-six patients with PDM and forty-one healthy
people. Using the sliding time window technique, we analyzed the dynamic feature and concordance changes between five indicators
in two groups including amplitude of low frequency fluctuations (ALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo), voxel-mirrored homotopic
connectivity, degree centrality and global signal correlation. Results Compared with healthy people, PDM patients showed the
dynamic increase in ALFF mainly located in the left temporal lobe, cerebellar hemisphere, hippocampus and right superior marginal
gyrus. At the same time, the patients demonstrated the dynamic increase in ReHo involving the left prefrontal lobe and rectus muscle,
right amygdala, hippocampus and parahippocampal gyrus, inferior temporal gyrus, while the dynamic decrease was found in the
left middle temporal gyrus. There was no statistical difference between two groups. Conclusion The dynamic abnormality of ALFF
and ReHo was observed in PDM patients, which may provide a new perspective and objective evidence to explain the pathological
mechanism of menstrual pain production and regulation.
