Abstract:As an emerging bio-medical imaging technique, photoacoustic tomography (PAT) combines the optical absorption and ultrasonic detection, which can provide high-contrast, high-sensitivity and in-depth imaging in living tissues. In this paper, the principle of PAT mechanism and its primary imaging methodology are reviewed. In addition, its great potential to be applied in clinical medicine is discussed based on its unique advantages.
