Abstract:Objective To explore the application value of root canal length meter combined with nickel-titanium rotary instrument (direct electrical measurement method) in root canal therapy. Methods The root canal preparation with nickel-titanium rotary instrument of 72 teeth of 65 patients who would undergo root canal therapy from January 2011 to May 2013 in our hospital was conducted by using direct electrical measurement method. Then the situations of endodontic interappointment emergencies (IEA) of the patients were recorded and the success rate of root canal therapy was calculated. Results The statistical result of IEA classification showed that 65 teeth were divided into grade 0, 6 teeth were divided into grade I, one tooth was divided into grade II and no tooth was divided into grade III. The IEA occurrence rate was 1.39% and the success rate of root canal therapy was 87.5%. Conclusion Based on the active length control of root canal preparation with nickel-titanium rotary instrument by using direct electrical measurement method, the clinical steps of root canal therapy can be simplified and the therapeutic effect of root canal therapy can be improved.
