Abstract:Objective To investigate the diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) related changes for newly diagnosed malignant lymphoma patients between before and after 7 d of chemotherapy. Methods Twenty-three patients with pathologically con?rmed lymphoma were examined by magnetic resonance DKI before and 7 d after chemotherapy. The imageswere post-processed and evaluated by DKI technology. The parameters of DKI before and 7 d after chemotherapy were measured and recorded: mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (DA), radial diffusivity (DR), mean kurtosis (MK), axial kurtosis (KA), radial kurtosis (KR), fractional anisotropy(FA), and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value. Evaluation of the efficacy of DKI on patients with malignant lymphoma before and after chemotherapy was calculated and analyzed. Results The variation trend of DKI parameters in 23 cases of malignant lymphoma were as follows: the ADC value increased from (0.650±0.165)×10-3 mm2/s to (0.972±0.083) ×10-3 mm2/s. The MD value increased from (0.941 ± 0.126)×10-3 mm2/s to (1.45±0.161)×10-3 mm2/s (the values of DA and DR also increased synchronously). The change of ADC value was consistent with that of MD value, and both showed an upward trend (P<0.05). The value of MK decreased from (1.396 ± 0.147) to (0.954 ± 0.130) (KA and KR also showed a synchronous downward trend) (P<0.05). FA value decreased from (0.622±0.103) to (0.534±0.115). Conclusion The increase of ADC and MD value, decrease of MK value are due to the reduction of lymphocyte density and more orderly distribution of the intratumor caused by effective chemotherapy. Therefore, the change of MD value after chemotherapy of lymphoma was positively correlated with the change of ADC value, and the change of MK value was negatively related.
