Abstract:Objective To analyze the problems of removing oxide layer of power cord plug in electrical safety testing, and give suggestions
for correctly dealing with the problem of grounding impedance exceeding standard. Methods Five power cords which meet the national
standard of China were pretreated differently to simulate the possible contact corrosion in hospital, for a check experiment. Results After
removal of the metal coating on the surface of the plug, normal saline and disinfectant lead to plug resistance exceeding the standard, while
the plug with complete protective layer was almost unaffected. Conclusion Removing the oxide layer of the plug in the electrical safety
testing will increase the risk of grounding impedance exceeding the standard at short time which will destroy the metal coating.
