Abstract:Objective To develop a cotton pad for thermotherapy to overcome the shortcomings of traditional cotton pad in the
treatment of colon cancer by thermotherapy combined with intestinal chemotherapy. Methods The thermotherapy cotton pad
comprised a cotton pad body and a temperature adjusting switch. The main body of thermotherapy cotton pad included heating
layer, adsorption layer and waterproof layer. The temperature adjusting switch was electrically connected with the heating layer
and fixed on the side away from the lesion of the main body of the cotton pad. Through clinical application, the effect of
thermotherapy cotton pad and traditional cotton pad on thermotherapy combined with enteric chemotherapy for colon cancer
was compared. Results After injecting drugs for 10 min, the 5-Fu concentration in the mesenteric venous blood of patients in
the thermotherapy cotton pad group was significantly higher than that in the traditional cotton pad group (P<0.05). However,
there was no significant difference in 5-Fu concentration between two groups after 20 min and 30 min injection (P>0.05).
Conclusion The device is simple in structure, reasonable in design and convenient in use, which not only shortens the waiting
time of intestinal chemotherapy, but also reduces the workload of nurses in operating room.
