Research on the Status and Countermeasures of the Registration and
Production of Medical Equipment in Guangxi

Abstract：Objective To analyze the current status of registration and production process of medical device industry in Guangxi,
and to understand the problems existing in the development of medical device industry, and put forward countermeasures and
suggestions for improving the development level of medical device industry in our region. Methods The present situation of medical
device registration and production in 14 prefecture-level cities in Guangxi up to October 2017 was analyzed by using geographical
information system. Results The survey results showed that there were more and more registered products and manufacturers of
medical devices in Guangxi. There were 773 items of medical equipment for record/registration in our district, which were mainly
distributed in IVD reagents, dentures, dressings and so on. There were 188 medical device manufacturers, among which the total
number of enterprises in Nanning, Guilin and Liuzhou accounted for 76% of the total number of the district, and the distribution
of enterprises was random. There were some problems in the registration and production of medical devices in the whole region,
such as uneven development among regions, low level of technology, lack of research and innovation and lack of well-known
brands. Conclusion The development of medical device industry can be promoted by government support, strengthening enterprise
innovation consciousness, independent research and development ability, and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading,
which can improve the medical health level in our district.
