Abstract:Objective To investigate emergency nurses’ cognition of the use and maintenance of invasive ventilator in comprehensive
3A hospitals in Guangzhou, so as to explore effective management strategies for improving the use and maintenance of invasive
ventilator. Methods After consulting relevant literature and consulting experts at domestic and abroad, a self-designed questionnaire
and a convenience sampling were used to investigate the cognitive related contents of the use and maintenance of invasive ventilator
for 261 emergency nurses from 8 comprehensive 3A hospitals in Guangzhou. Results The mean score of the mastery degree on
the daily maintenance knowledge of the ventilator was 2.923, which was at the medium range. There were statistically significant
differences in the cognitive scores of emergency nurses with different ages, levels, titles, positions and years of work in the use
and maintenance of ventilators (P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education, level and working years were
the influencing factors of nurses’ cognition of daily use and maintenance of ventilator. Conclusion The training objectives that
are appropriate to the actual clinical work should be set, and the related procedures and regulations should be formulated. By
strengthening the awareness of invasive ventilator maintenance quality management among emergency nurses, the accuracy rate
of ventilator use will be improved and the rate of instrument failure will be reduced, which can ensure the normal operation of the
ventilator and reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
