Abstract:Objective This paper aims to explore the diagnostic value of BI-RADS-US fifth edition of
ultrasound elastography classification method for BI-RADS-4 breast masses. Methods A total of 73
masses of 65 patients with BI-RADS type 4 diagnosed by high-frequency ultrasonography were examined
by elastic ultrasound. To evaluate the diagnostic value of BI-RADS-US fifth edition of ultrasound
elastography classification for BI-RADS-4 breast masses by biopsy and pathology results which as the
gold standard. Results The specificity and accuracy of BI-RADS-US fifth edition ultrasound elasticity
for category 4 breast lesions were 95.5% and 91.8%. They were significantly improved (P<0.05) than
conventional ultrasonic (59.1% and 75.3%). Adding elastic classification method to category 4 breast
lesions, the percentage of malignancy rate were reduced form7.1% to 3.8%. Conclusion For category
4 breast lesion BI-RADS-US fifth edition ultrasound elasticity has significantly improved the specificity
and accuracy and significantly reduced the unnecessary biopsies of the 4A class lesions.
